OpenApps Feedback

Free alternative to Canny

Feedback boards with voting, a roadmap and a changelog. Free.

Feedback is a free alternative to Canny. Collect feature requests and bug reports, let people upvote them, show what is planned on a public roadmap, and tell voters when it ships. No sign-up, and no limit on ideas, voters or boards.

No sign-up. You get a link to share and a private admin link.

  • Unlimited ideas, votes, comments and boards
  • A public roadmap and a changelog that tells voters what shipped
  • Your users post and vote with no account

How it works

  1. Make a board

Name it and share the link. Your users post ideas and bug reports, with no account and nothing to install.

  2. Let people vote

One vote per person per idea, so the most wanted ideas rise to the top. Similar ideas show up before anyone posts a duplicate.

  3. Show your progress

Set a status and the idea moves across your public roadmap. When it ships, write a changelog entry that links it, so everyone who voted sees it.

Everything a feedback board needs

  • Voting board

Ideas and bugs with upvotes, comments, tags and search. Sort by Top, Trending or New, or see just the ideas you voted for.

  • Public roadmap

Under review, planned, in progress and done, most voted first. People see what is coming without asking.

  • Changelog

Write what shipped in Markdown and link the ideas it delivered. Each idea shows a Shipped note with the date.

  • Tools for the team

Set statuses, merge duplicates (votes move over), pin, hide, edit or delete ideas, and reply as the team.

  • On your website

A feedback button that opens your board in a small window, or a plain HTML form that posts ideas onto it.

  • For AI assistants

A public API with no key, described in llms.txt and OpenAPI. Assistants can read top requests and update statuses.

Free, with no tracked-user limit

Most feedback tools charge more as more people use your board, which is the moment a board starts to work. Feedback stays free: each idea, vote and comment is one small write, and OpenApps pays for it.

On your website

Collect feedback where your users already are.

Open your board's "Add to your site" panel and copy one of two snippets. Both work on any website, with no script to install and no account for your visitors.

For AI assistants

Your assistant can run the board with you.

Feedback has a public HTTP API with no key and no account. An assistant can set up a board in one call, read the top requests and their statuses, post what a customer asked for, and, with the owner key, move ideas along the roadmap and write the changelog.

Creating a board returns an owner key. Keep it private: it is what lets you change statuses, hide ideas and publish updates. Full reference: llms.txt and openapi.json.

Questions

Is there a free alternative to Canny?
Yes. Feedback is a free feature request board with upvotes, comments, statuses, a public roadmap and a changelog. There is no paid plan and no limit on ideas, voters or boards. Canny's free plan stops at 25 tracked users and its Pro plan starts at $79 a month billed yearly, as reported in 2026.
Is Feedback really free?
Yes. There is no paid plan and no ads. There are no third-party trackers and nothing is sold. The hosting counts visits. Each idea, vote and comment is a small write, and OpenApps pays for it.
Do my users need an account to post or vote?
No. Everyone starts as a guest in their browser and can post, vote and comment right away. Anyone who wants their votes on every device can sign in with their email, and the votes from that browser come along.
Can people vote more than once?
Each person gets one vote per idea in their browser, and can take it back. Someone could vote again from another browser or a private window, so read votes as a strong signal, not a ballot. People who sign in with email get one vote per idea across all their devices.
Is there a free public roadmap tool?
Yes. Every Feedback board has a public roadmap with four columns: under review, planned, in progress and done. An idea moves across it when you change its status.
How do voters find out when their idea ships?
Write a changelog entry and link the ideas it shipped. Those ideas are marked done and show a Shipped note with a link to the entry, and the changelog says how many votes each one had. The Ideas I voted for filter shows each person their own ideas. Feedback does not send emails yet.
Can I add a feedback widget to my website?
Yes. Copy a button that opens a compact version of your board in a small window, or an HTML form that posts ideas straight onto your board. Both work on any site with no script to install. Other websites cannot show the board in an iframe, because the hosting blocks framing to protect people from look-alike pages.
How do I handle duplicates and spam?
Merge a duplicate into the original: its votes move over, and anyone who voted for both counts once. You can also hide, delete or pin ideas and edit their tags. Before someone posts, Feedback shows similar ideas so they can vote instead.
Who can see my board?
Anyone with its link. Boards are unlisted: there is no public list or search of boards, and the link holds 20 random characters. Ideas you hide are seen only by your team and their author. Do not use a board for secrets.
Can my AI assistant read and update my feedback board?
Yes. Feedback has a public HTTP API with no key. An assistant can create a board, read the top requests and their statuses, post ideas and comments, and, with the board's owner key, change statuses and write the changelog. It is described in llms.txt and openapi.json.
What does Feedback not do?
It has no integrations with Slack, Jira or Intercom, sends no email notifications, does not sign people in with your own app's accounts, runs on its own address rather than your domain, and has no private boards beyond the unlisted link. Paid tools like Canny cover those.
